Researchers from all parts of the world
involved in
documenting
how omega-3
fatty acids in
omega-3 fish
oil affect the
human body and
how its role
is played
within have
come out with
more news and
insight as to
the many
benefits of
omega-3 fish
oils.
Read up on
these 4
studies just
recently
published on
the benefits
of omega-3
fatty acids
and know that
adding omega-3
fish oils into
your diet can
pay off in
great health
benefits, not
only now but
in your future
too!
1. Scientists
from Columbia
University
Medical Center
have recently
documented
that a diet rich in fish oils can help to inhibit fat
accumulation
in the largest
artery in the
body that
leaves the
heart,
the aorta.
Even when
there is a
high amount of
fat intake, it was found that omega-3 fish oils continued to
help block the
build up of
cholesterol.
According to
researchers,
omega-3 fatty
acids
substantially
prevented LDL
cholesterol
(the bad kind
of
cholesterol)
from getting
into the
arteries and
hence, there
was a lot less
buildup of
cholesterol in
the aortic
blood vessels.1
2. More and
more evidence
from ongoing
research
studies
indicate that
omega-3
fatty acids
from fish
and/or fish
oil
supplements
are extremely
helpful in
preventing or
lessening
cardiovascular
diseases, but
are also very
effective in
decreasing the
number of
cardiac events
and death in
people who
already have
heart disease
and heart
problems.
"This isn't
just hype; we
now have
tremendous and
compelling
evidence from
very large
studies, some
dating back 20
and 30 years,
that
demonstrate
the protective
benefits of
omega-3 fish
oil in
multiple
aspects of
preventive
cardiology,"
said Carl
director of
Cardiac
Rehabilitation
and
Prevention,
Ochsner
Medical
Center, New
Orleans, LA,
and lead
author of a
recent article
in Journal of
the American
College of
Cardiology.
"The strongest
evidence of a
cardio-protective
effect of
omega-3s
appears in
patients with
established
cardiovascular
disease and
following a
heart attack
with up to a
30 percent
reduction in
CV-related
death .2
3.
Know someone struggling with
Age-related
macular
degeneration?
This disease is one of the biggest causes
of legal
blindness in
people ages 66
and above. A
promising
research group
led by Dr.
Chi-Chao Chan
at the
National Eye
Institute in
Bethesda, MD
indicates that
diets that are high in omega-3 fatty acids might
help to
prevent the
progression of
this
devastating
disease.
The results "further provide the
scientific
basis for the
application of
omega-3 fatty
acids and
their
biologically
active
derivatives in
the prevention
and treatment
of AMD,"
according to
Dr. Chan. Dr.
Chan and his
associates
plan to
utilize the
research model
developed in
this study to
help evaluate
additional
therapies that
could help the
progress of
age-related
macular
degeneration.3
4. Another
study just
recently
completed
demonstrated
that those diets with a high amount of omega-3 fatty acids
helped to
protect the
liver when
damaged by the
effects of
insulin
resistance
caused by
obesity.
"Our study
shows for the
first time
that lipids
called
protectins and
resolvins
derived from
omega-3 fatty
acids can
actually
reduce the
instance of
liver
complications,
such as
hepatic
steatosis and
insulin
resistance, in
obese people,"
stated Joan
Claria, a
professor from
the University
of Barcelona
and one of the
researchers
involved in
the work. 4
Studies like
these are
pointing out
the importance
of including
omega-3 fish
oils in the
diet and are
backed up with
real
scientific
evidence.

you know that
you have
bigger risk
factors (such
as weight,
diet,
lifestyle
choices), then
you may want
to take a

and
determining
with the
advice of your
doctor as to
whether taking
a high quality
omega-3 fish
oil supplement
such as
